Last Sunday, Vera and her parents went with us to our church's Sunday school. It was very exciting for the little girls, as well as me ! Seeing them taking part in all the action songs and activities bring happiness to my heart! :) Vera is really very sweet. She will let me hold her hands and even sits on my lap! So lovely... (^_^) Phoebe was a little jealous at first but after a while, she was fine. After church, the 2 girls were so tired that they fell asleep in the cars :) We just know how to exhaust their energies! heehee... (^_~) Hopefully, next week, they will attend Sunday school with us again (^_^)

In the evening, they wanted to play together again, so Phoebe went over to her place. Apparently, Phoebe doesn't know how to pronounce Vera's name. She calls her "Sha-lah" instead! Haha! See the two girls relaxing on the bed ! Super cute right ?!! LOVE THEM BITS!!!

Today's another tiring tiring day for me. I had to be up early this morning because the teachers have to be in school by 8.20 a.m. to conduct P4 oral examination.

The night before, I thought I could go to bed early so that I will wake up feeling fresh and rejuvenated. However, my dear little Phoebe refused to sleep even until 11.30 p.m.! She was crying and throwing tantrum because she wanted her papa to show her the website of "Boowa and Kwala".
http://www.uptoten.com/kids/uptoten-home.html She loves the songs and animation very much. I must admit that I too love this website because of its bright colours and variety of children's activity. That was why I had introduced this website to her since she was about one and the half years old. If you have little kids, do show them this website. They'll definitely love the cute characters - Boowa, the blue dog and Kwala the yellow Koala. :) I've even bought the plush toy for Phoebe ! :) See how much mommy loves you, little Phoebe :)

Maybe one of these days, I'll get the T-shirt for her too, if there's her size, Haha...

Oooh... I got carried away every time I talk about my bao bei little girl :)

Anyway, back to the oral exams... generally, I think the children are reading fine, except that all of them are reading in a monotone ! I'm not sure if it's a Singapore accent or style or the children are simply shy. There are dialogues in the passage but the children did not vary their voice to assume the persona of the characters. So sad... There're a few girls in my class that can read very well. I can hear them reading effortlessly in an animated manner when I conducted "Sound Bites" in class. I hope Phoebe will also learn to read that well next time :) Haha, me and my Phoebe again :)

Back to the oral exams again. The whole examination ended in one and the half hour's time (excluding the time wasted waiting for the children because of the first recess). I wish the oral exam started at 10.15 a.m. instead of 8.30 a.m. Even if the exam started at 10.15 a.m. we can still manage to finish it by 11.45 a.m. because we have 9-10 oral examiners! Then we do not have to come so early in the morning. Can you imagine that I have been working for about 11-12 hours today?!! It's too taxing for a pregnant mommy... *sigh* And worse still, my back is aching quite badly. I suspect it's because of my fibroid that's pressing against the nerves on my back... Poor me :(

It's the mid-autumn festival today. I hope I still have some energy left coz I intended to bring Phoebe down to the garden for a lantern possession with the rest of the little children. This will be her first time and I'm sure she'll enjoy it very much... If I still have the energy, that is...

Alright then, till next time I blog again, Bye !

I've a video of Phoebe using the telephone. When I was doing my masters, I had to do a research on how culture affects a child's language acquisition. So, I used Phoebe as my subject / participant. She was about 17 months then. Instead of using the receiver to talk, she used it as a toy to spin... Haha. Here's the video. Hope it works ! :)

Phoebe loves to sing. At this stage, she may not be accurate in her pronunciation of words but she's able to get the tune and rhythm right. It's pure joy hearing her sing and looking at her innocent expressions :) Everyday before she goes home after her playschool, she has to sing this song to her teachers. Here is how it goes :

(sing)
Sha La La, Sha La La,
Take my school bag going home,
Say goodbye to teachers, goodbye to my friends.

(recite in English)
Goodbye teachers, goodbye friends,
See you tomorrow

(recite in Mandarin)
Lao Shi zai jian, hao peng you zai jian
Da jia ming tian jian!

Phoebe also loves to sing the song "I love you, you love me" from Barney :

I love you, you love me,
We are happy family
With a great big hug and a kiss from me to you *muak*
Won't you say you love me too.

Other songs like "Twinkle twinkle Little Star", "Itsy Bitsy Spider", "Pat a Cake", "He Got the Whole World in His Hands" and "We Bring a sacrifice of Praise" are also amongst her fav ! :)

My mom said that Phoebe's just like me. When I was young, I used to be a crooner too. Haha. Like mommy like daughter (^_^)

She's singing "He Got the World World in His Hand" and using a pack of sugar as a shaker! Love her bits ! :)

My neighbours have just emailed me some pics of their princess, little Vera and my Phoebe. Phoebe loves to play in their house. She and Vera are may not be the best of friends but they definitely enjoy each other's presence. The 2 girls look really adorable together though they have very different personalities. Phoebe is loud and bubbly but Vera is soft and gentle, simply a princess! Actually at this age, they are rather egocentric and have yet to learn how to play together or share their toys. They will continue to remain egocentric until about 5-6 years of age (as according to the child psychologist, Jean Piaget) but we just love to see how these 2 little girls interact with one another. Haha.

See how lovely they look! :) Phoebe was in Vera's house.

I was driving, on my way home when the earthquake happened at 7.55 p.m. last night. I did not feel the tremor. Apparently, the damage was in Indonesia with a Richter scale of 8.2 ! That is very serious. Poor Indonesia. My heart goes out to her people. The Tsunami, the social disorder, the floods, the earthquakes... They had been going through turmoil and unrest. There will be complete mayhem after each catastrophe. The homes that have been built are ruin within seconds. Today a new birth, within seconds, a new death. The children, the women, the old and weak... sigh. Helpless and at the mercy of those they put their hope on. Can you imagine a pregnant mother suffering in pain and waiting for medical attention? Now that I'm pregnant, I really feel for them. I pray that all of them will receive help soon and that corruption will not be an obstruction.

God have mercy on the people of Indonesia!

Today I'm really tired. really exhausted. can't wait for school to be over and put my head on the pillow and zzzz. My school had 'Meet the Parents' session. I had to be in school by 9 a.m. So, early in the morning at about 8.15, I braved the drizzle and wheeled Phoebe to my parents' place. Then I had to rushed to school to meet the P5's parents. I had no breakfast and all the rushing made me even more hungry and lethargic. When I reached school, the parents were not there yet so I had 15 mins to take a breather. The parents started to stream in by 9 a.m.

They were generally very pleasant and positive. Chatting with them helped me to discover the other side of the pupils. From them, I also picked up some parenting tips. It was very fruitful.

Thank you girls for your Teachers' Day greetings :)

I've not blogged for soooooo many days ! Simply coz I'm ENJOYING MY SEPTEMBER SCHOOL HOLIDAYS! Haha :) Since this holiday is so short, I'm savouring every moment, every second of it!

This morning, I went to my good friend's place. She taught me how to make Japanese Curry and Seafood Pancake ! Yummy ! :) I've always love cooking and has a a bit of flair for it. Maybe I've got the genes from my mum. She's a wonderful cook and she fed us well... Haha. Look at my size and you can tell right ? :) She can make lots of excellent foods, such as mooncakes, cookies, pastries, cakes, and other dishes... Yum yum. The thought of it makes me feel hungry... Though I love cooking, I absolutely hate the washing up... Well, who does right ? It's so greasy and sometimes it requires lots of scrubbing ! Yucky...

Alright, that's all for now. I'm going to prepare dinner now. Better prepare the ingredients while my little girl is having her nap :)

Ciaos :)

I've not blog for 2 days. Weekend was great. I spend a lot of time with my family. But on Saturday, I also did something very dreadful which I regretted very much. It was the first time and my heart really aches, even until now. What had happened ? *sigh* I caned my girl... my poor baby.

My little sunshine girl can get a little out of hand sometimes. She's at this stage whereby she's testing authorities. She cannot really differentiate between right from wrong. Hence, it's really the responsibility of the caregivers to advocate and discipline her. Sometimes, she'll show displeasure by screaming continuously at the top of her voice, raise her hand to beat you or even show defiant simply by being disobedient. As parents, we hope to teach her to the best that we can, not so much of raising an academically strong kid but a child with good character and personality. To me, I believe that EQ is much more important than IQ and it is the EQ that will get one to progress further in life.

On sat morning, her darling papa gave her a bath in the morning. After bathing, she refused to get dressed even after much coaxing and scolding. Just simply being naughty lah... actually, it was just a small issue, but I don't know what had got into me, I took the cane and decided to whack her four times! That was the first time I caned her, so I didn't know how much damage it would cost. After four strokes, four red lines of about 5 cm each surfaced on her little chubby left thigh! My gosh, my heart sank. I didn't know that I had exerted too much strength on her coz I have never caned anyone before. My heart really aches. My little girl did not shed a tear but she obediently relent and her papa could dress her easily. After a while, I explained to her why mommy "pah pah" (beat beat) her. She seemed to understand and was just as affectionate to me as ever. I kissed and hugged her to made up for my mistake and also to show her that mommy still loves her very very much. She's still my lovely girl.

However, I was consumed by my own guilt even though I have always believe in "Sparing the rod and spoiling the child". Although the red marks subsided after a while, they had left a permanent scar in my heart. I tell myself that I'll not use the cane on her again, unless really necessary. *sigh*

It really takes a lot of patience to raise a child and I'm still a learning mommy.

Hi everyone,

Check out my personal website :
http://www.geocities.com/thebunnysitter/ It's about my passion - rabbits ! :)

I've created it about 2 years back, but I didn't have the time to maintain now... Maybe I should do so in the holidays ! :)

I used to keep rabbits and I had three - Coco, Vinny and Mickey. 2 boys and a girl, Coco and Vinny are Netherland Dwarves while Mickey is a Holland Lop. I've also helped to bunnysit some rabbits. When their owners wanted to go overseas for holiday or work, they would bring their bunnies over for me to take care. I would charge a nominal fee for the service. Other than that, I had also helped to foster and rehome some abandon rabbits. Here're some pics of my own rabbits (Coco, Vinny and Mickey respectively). To see more of my rabbiting hobby, go into my website :)

Thanks for your encouragements and comments, kids. But I personally don't really like the blogskin coz it's black. I prefer white :) I've searched for another one to replace the current one but I can't really remember the steps on how to add in the c box. I think I have to consult Teacher Phoebe or Teacher Jillene again :p What do you think about this blogskin? It's about clouds and I love the pastel blue.

This morning, I brought my little girl to her playschool. She has started attending a daily 2-hour play session since July. Her main mission is to PLAY, PLAY and PLAY ! It's so nice to be a kid ! When we reached her school, Little Telisa came and put her hands on my girl's shoulders. They had became good friends ! The sight of the two little girls hugging really warms my heart :) Such sweet little darlings !

My girl is 22 months old now. She's really a sunshine girl, always smiling and joyful ! Love her bits ! She's learning a lot these days. She can name some of the colours, fruit and vegetables and also express her wants, such as "Mommy, make milk." I must give credit to her papa ! He is the one who teaches her every day. Sometimes, I really feel guilty for not spending enough time with her, not that I don't want to, but simply because at this point of time (1st trimester of pregnancy), I feel really exhausted after a day in school. So, after dinner, my hubby will spend meaningful time with her and teach her new things. I think my girl is very BLESSED to have such a loving papa and I'm very BLESSED too to have such a wonderful and understanding hubby! Thank God for His blessings ! :D

Here's a pic of my little sunshine when she was 9 months old :) She looks like a boy ya ? :)

Hoo haa ! My first blog ! Not that I have so much time to blog. Let's just see how this page will be maintained. Let me first introduce myself.

I'm a mommy and a mommy-to-be. A wife, a pregnant woman, a daughter, an educator, a noise controller, an employee, a maid-at-home, a Master degree holder... etc. Basically, I'm a Jack of all trades, but a master of none ! So many hats to juggle, so many papers to mark, so many diapers to change but so little time, definitely too little sleep and little play time with my little one.

Talk about my little one, she's my pride and joy. My little energizer bunny, my little princess. She's the brilliant little one who brightens up my day. What to do ? Her name means bright and brilliant. How can she not live up to her name ? Haha. So, any parents to be, please take extra care when selecting the names of your little ones. Meanings are important but of course they do not shape the characters your kids will have.

Mommy-to-be, yes, that's me. Right now, the foetus is 12 weeks old. Am I excited? well, sort of but not as much as the first pregnancy. Maybe the novelty is wearing out. Nevertheless, I thank God for this precious one. Is it a boy or girl ? It does really matter actually. But of course, human beings always prefer perfection and to the Chinese, a girl and a boy means perfection. Well, whether it's going to be a boy or girl, it really doesn't bother me, as long as the child is healthy and complete.

An educator ? Yup, mothering over 42 noisy kids. That's why I deemed myself as a noise controller too ! Smart kids but definitely draining to teach. We're in the computer lab right now and they're busy amusing themselves with the internet. Maybe I should get each of them to set up their own INDIVIDUAL blog ! That'll be a good way to know them. Not compulsory though, only those who are interested. For one, I hate to coerce people to do things.

Okie, that's all for now... Getting too long-winded. Bookmark this page and I'll update soon... Maybe I'll post pics of my little energizer bunny and my beloved family ! Why am I making myself even more tired ?! haha. Beats me.
